A trip down memory lane

A retro arcade bar that has the best games of our childhood, punch bowls and bar bites? Count us in.

If you're an '80s or '90s kid, you'd definitely have fond memories of your arcade days. This was where countless of hours was spent after school, squandering our pocket money on games like Daytona and air hockey.

Fast forward to current times and guess what? We still love the arcade. Nothing beats reliving the good old days with our best mates while trying to outbeat each other's best scores.

Here to make things a little more enticing and adult-friendly is Level Up, a spacious arcade-bar located on the second storey of a conservation shophouse in Clarke Quay. Neon lights, check. Graphic murals (courtesy of local street art collective RSCLS), check. Level Up is a true representation to what our dream arcade would look like, especially since we're now old enough and legally permitted to indulge in a drink or two. Riverdale fans will also be pleased to know that their bathrooms are stocked with Archie comics. It's hip, it's banging, and a perfect throwback to our teenage years. The bar is also a firm believer in local music talent, featuring a line-up of young promising musicians that will perform live from Tuesday to Saturdays.

Take your pick from games like pool, foosball, darts, basketball, or have a go at popular arcade varieties like Street Fighter and Bishi Bashi. Love a good drinking game? There's always beer pong to fall back on. You can either buy tokens or order a drink at the bar for free tokens. We definitely think the second option sounds more up our alley.

As far as the drink menu goes, it is gloriously extensive — cocktails, wines, spirits, hard liquors, and even punch bowls to accommodate big groups. You name it, they have it. Hungry for food? Choose from their mouth-watering bar snacks, which includes salted egg fish skin and luncheon meat chips, paired with a side of sambal. Or if you're craving moreish plates, we recommend digging into their Asian sliders, put together with spiced pulled pork or thinly sliced beef short ribs.

We know it's only Monday, but you'll know where to find us on the weekend.
