Three bartenders create unique tipples to match Bond-girl worthy heels from Kurt Geiger

It might be October but we're already counting down the days to the upcoming James Bond movie, Spectre, that drops in theatres this November. Besides a bevy of femme fatales, razor-sharp bon mots, and harrowing plot twists, the Bond movies have also given us something to drink to — the famed Vesper Martini that first appeared in Casino Royale before going on to conquer bars the world over. James Bond might have a cocktail to call his own, but what of his alluring Bond girls? To that end, we've rounded up three seasoned bartenders to shake up cocktails inspired by these modern-day screen sirens.

Marrying our love for immaculately crafted tipple with our indefatigable obsession with shoes, we decided to pair each heroine-inspired cocktail with killer 'Bond' kicks from Kurt Geiger. The British footwear label has rolled out a collection of seductive stilettos under its 'B' series that features a signature pointed toe paired with a svelte 110mm metal cigarette heel crafted in Italy. If you're going to put your best foot forward, these shoes will point you in the right direction — and you should do so with nothing less than one of these cocktails in hand.

Tasting notes: As Halle Berry's a fiesty woman on screen and a powerful woman in her personal life, I wanted to create something spicy and spirit-forward for her. In keeping with the Bond element, I used gin in my drink. The cocktail is a twist on the Martinez which has gin, Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur, and Mancino Vermouth. I added my own spin on the drink with ginger liqueur. London Dry Gin is a clean tasting gin that doesn't have much botanicals but more spices, and pairs well with the ginger liqueur.

45ml No.3 London Dry Gin
10ml King's Ginger Liqueur
15ml Mancino Vermouth
5ml Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur
Lemon oils

Pour all the ingredients into a mixing glass with a handful of ice cubes and stir well to combine. Strain the contents of the mixing glass into a vintage cocktail glass.

Tasting notes: Eva played an interesting character. Until the very end, you don't really know that she's a double agent and eventually sacrifices herself for Bond to survive. It's also the first time the iconic Vesper martini was mentioned. Eva comes on as a strong character but she isn't afraid to show her feminine side. I wanted the drink to have a bold start before morphing into one that's pleasant and easy to drink — all without changing the core DNA of the drink. So I stuck with gin, vodka, vermouth and bitters, but switched things up with a sloe gin containing berries that lend a strong floral note. The vodka gives the drink some power and body while the bitters add a slight hint of spice. While the original Vesper martini is garnished with a long twist of lemon peel, I've opted for a V-shaped peel that sits on the rim of the glass.

45ml Sipsmith Sloe Gin
45ml Sipsmith Vodka
15ml Mancino Bianco
2 dashes of Angostura Bitters
Lemon peel, for garnish

Pour the gin, vodka, Mancino Bianco and Angostura Bitters into a cocktail shaker with a handful of ice and shake well. Strain the contents of the cocktail shaker into a Nick & Nora glass and garnish with the lemon peel.

Tasting notes: Monica Belluci is my dream girl. She stands for equality between the sexes but isn't all about 'girl power'. Interestingly enough, she wants to be a Bond lady and not a Bond girl. So I made her a cocktail that's a twist on the Vesper martini. I've used sherry and sake because it goes very well with the rose I have infused in the vodka. The Amaro Montenegro is a nod towards Monica's Italian heritage while enhancing the rose flavour of the drink. This drink might taste mild, but it's actually really strong.

Make it at home

45ml Rose-infused Belvedere Vodka
5ml Tio Pepe Sherry
15ml Junmai Sake
5ml Amaro Montenegro
2 dashes of Pychard Bitters
Rosebud, for garnish

Pour all the ingredients except for the rosebud into a mixing glass and stir well to combine. Strain the contents into a coupe. Garnish with a rosebud.
