Cool kid-friendly restaurants and cafes in Singapore for chic moms: Places with special menus, play areas, and activities
Kids in tow
Let's be real: When parents — regardless of how cool they look — dine at a painfully hip restaurant in a buzzy neighbourhood at peak hour, they are very likely to be judged, mostly by anyone between ages 21 to 40 without kids. (That's almost everyone, basically.) And even if there are no dagger eyes or death stares, not all restaurants and cafes in Singapore are well-equipped enough to keep the little monsters happy, occupied and hopefully quiet.
So in celebration of one of the most important days of the year that is Mother's Day, we've curated a rather decent list of cool, children-loving establishments for the modern family. These are places that even kid-free millennials would suffer screaming toddlers for their Insta-worthy interiors, wicked grub, and trendy drinks. Pop in, and we hope you'll finish your meal.
Maggie & Rose Singapore
This two-weeks-old London-originated establishment is actually a family members' club, but we can't resist its pretty interiors, kids-focused facilities and the wholesome grub served at the Brasserie. The folks at Maggie & Rose believe that healthy, low-salt and box-fresh food should be suitable for all ages, so there's no special menus for the kids. Good fuel aside, the club has a selection of lovely spaces for their Play & Learn sessions, camps, classes, parties and other special events.

Camp Kilo Charcoal Club
Fire and ember hark the beginnings of a great day out filled with glorious roasts, grown-up campfire sides, fruity boozy drinks, plus fun and games for the little ones. Set within the ground floor of the Ture Building next to the Kallang river, Camp Kilo Charcoal Club also has a bi-monthly Sunday shindig called Camp Kido, where kids can do some crafting, sit in storytelling sessions in the Blanket Fort, and participate in street party activities. Special platters and mocktails are also available for the kiddos.
#01-01, 66 Kampong Bugis, Tel: 6292 2306

Housed in a tent-like wooden edifice and furbished with vibrant colourful décor reminiscent of a safari, Tiong Bahru Bakery's wildest café outlet in Dempsey is an exploration in nature for the kids, thanks to a healthful, plant-powered menu and a lush environ complete with an edible garden and farm animals. Add to that an outdoor playground and a boules lawn, you just might enjoy some peace while sipping an antioxidant-rich turmeric latte and tucking into their famous croissants.
130E Minden Road, Tel: 6877 4876
Opening hours: 8am-5pm daily
It's a little out of the way, but the two-acre former British military airbase is worth traipsing to — if only for its spaciousness (means more room to breathe). The Verandah is a lovely brunch spot with its old-world bistro setting and modern European plates; go to Alfresco Café By The Lawn for grilled meats and pizzas; or pick up a mat and basket from the café counter to have a picnic on the Lawn while the kids run free. There's also an aerospace-themed playground nearby to tire them out.
Seletar Aerospace Park, 2 Park Lane, Tel: 6262 0001
Opening hours: (Level 1) 3pm-11pm (Tue-Thu), 3pm-1:30am (Fri), 9am-1:30am (Sat), 9am-11pm (Sun). (Level 2) 12pm-3pm and 6pm-10:30pm (Tue-Fri), 11am-3pm and 6pm-10:30pm (Sat-Sun). Closed on Mondays
Escape the city bustle for a day at Bollywood Veggies, a ten-acre farm, which can take you right in the illusion of a countryside. Plenty of edibles including fruits, vegetables and herbs can be found here; as well as a bistro serving up crisp moringa tempura — homegrown no less. Make the best out of your fam day here by booking a guided farm tour, a cooking sesh or other enriching green activities via Bollywood Adventures.
