Cocktail recipes to make at home based off a bottle of Westward Whiskey

Don't get us wrong, we're thankful that we haven't gone into lockdown. But with all entertainment venues and bars shut down (for now), that means happy hours hurrying off into the horizon. We can't help but dread weekends deprived of sipping on artisanal cocktails or exploiting early bird drink promotions.

However, there's always a way around it. Westward Whiskey has come to the rescue — even when you're serving a 14-day SHN.

Westward whiskey

Prized for its smooth and full-bodied flavour, award-winning Westward Whiskey will guarantee some fun during your self-isolation days. Add to that their three whiskey infused cocktail ideas that can be easily conjured up in your very own kitchen. So, make a drink or two  in times like these, we need it.

Old Fashioned

What you'll need:

50ml Westward Whiskey
1/2 tbspn sugar
Three dashes of Bitters
Orange Peel

How to make it:

Pour Westward Whiskey, sugar, dashes of bitters into a rocks glass and stir. Garnish with an orange peel and serve it either neat or on the rocks.

Gold Rush

What you'll need

45ml Westward Whiskey
30ml Honey
30ml Lemon juice

How to make it:

Pour Westward Whiskey, honey, lemon juice into a cocktail shaker. Shake well, strain into a martini glass and drink up.

Imperial Fizz

What you'll need

50ml Westward Whiskey
25ml Lemon Juice
1/2 tbspn sugar
100ml Soda (or to fill glass)
Lemon Wedge

How to make it:

Pour Westward Whiskey, honey, lemon juice and sugar into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a highball (tall) glass filled with ice. Top off with soda, garnish with a lemon wedge and sip away.
