Save a spot
November heralds the start of the festive period as we slowly inch towards Christmas. When you get right down to it, there's only six weeks leading up to Santa making an appearance, and so it isn't quite time to rest on your laurels yet. There's still festal decorations to display, cheesy seasonal flicks to sort out, and of course, Christmas meals to plan. While festive celebrations might look decidedly different this year due to the pandemic, one thing will never change: the joy and laughter over merry meals with your loved ones. And with Christmas gatherings taking place with smaller groups this year, there's a chance that you could be slogging away at the stove more times than you'd relish. To save you the hassle of cooking and cleaning for the entire season, we've gathered the best Christmas meals around the island to start pre-booking from. After all, it's never too early to start securing that turkey, right?
Take your pick from an expansive Christmas menu range at Capella Singapore. From a four-course lunch menu on Christmas Day to dedicated festive set menus for plant-based diners, you can expect to tuck into a lavish Yuletide meal at The Knolls. Highlights we're eyeing from the menus include the chestnut velouté, pan-seared duck foie gras and of course, the honey-rosemary brined turkey. If you prefer an Asian twist for your Christmas affair, head over to Cassia, Capella's specialty Chinese restaurant, for a six-course meal with braised bird's nest, baked lobster, pan-fried foie gras and more. Capella is also partnering with the Association for Persons with Special Needs (APSN) to run an online auction to raise funds for the APSN. Besides a luxurious Christmas staycation, winners will also have the chance to feast on their Christmas Eve dinner at either The Knolls or Cassia.
Depending on your menu of choice, the Capella festive menu could start at $85++ per person on Christmas Eve and $158++ per person on Christmas Day. Start booking here.
Oxwell & Clan
Christmas miracles do come true, for British gastropub Oxwell & Co — who shuttered their doors earlier this year — now back with their famous signature Christmas roasts. Just in time for the festive season, the hybrid bar-restaurant will be setting up a festive six-week pop-up at Straits Clan's Clan Cafe. Titled Oxwell & Clan, the concept will serve up festive dishes such as the Turkey Roulade with celery, chestnuts, mushrooms, cranberry sauce or the Crackled Roast Pork Belly with mustard sauce. For those that fancy a tipple (or two), imbibe in a slew of seasonally inspired cocktails that will have you feeling jolly in no time. In the spirit of giving during Christmas, Oxwell & Clan has partnered with Food Bank SG to donate a meal to people in need in the local community, for every meal purchased.
The Oxwell & Clan festive menu starts at $98++ per person. Start booking here.
TWG Tea knows how to do the festive season right with their plethora of Christmas offerings. Embark on a gastronomic adventure with their festive set menu which includes a main course of tenderloin with winter truffle beef sauce and foie gras crisps, paired alongside their seasonal Grand Christmas Tea. End the meal on a sweet note with either a Napoleon Tea infused hazelnut caramel log cake with a scoop of Indian Night Tea ice cream, or the Grand Christmas Tea infused strawberry banana log cake with a scoop of Bain de Roses Tea sorbet. Cap the meal off in high spirits with either a mocktail or a cocktail that shines the spotlight on TWG's Grand Christmas Tea.
TWG Tea's festive menu set is priced at $50, while mocktails and cocktails are available for an additional $10 and $12 respectively. The festive menu will be available from 14 December 2020 to 1 January 2021.
If dining while gazing at the marine life is your thing, you definitely wouldn't go wrong with spending your Christmas meal at Resort World Sentosa's Aqua Gastronomy. The multisensory experience that was sold out earlier in the past months is back with a festive twist. Take a seat at a festively-decorated igloo pod and tuck into a five-course deluxe festive menu as you capture the breathtaking extravaganza of sea animals swimming back and forth around you. This will surely mark a Christmas meal you'll never forget.
If you're seeking a break from the traditional ham-and-turkey fare, pivot your palate to a festive Middle Eastern menu instead. Fat Prince is serving up modern Middle Eastern grub for Christmas, and festive delights include their signature Ottoman Pork with turkish coffee and spiced roasted duck breast. The festive set menu includes mezze, a main dish, a side dish, a dessert option and a glass of cava for a bubbly start. Middle Eastern cuisine might not be your typical choice for Christmas, but don't knock it till you've tried it.
