Sweet and crumbly, these tarts are indispensable to the festive table

Pineapple tarts, glorious pineapple tarts. There are just so many ways to love these auspicious festive bites. David Senia, Capella Singapore's executive chef, even recommends combining two tarts to form a pineapple tart-macaron of sorts. Whether you enjoy them as an open tart with the pineapple filling piled high, or a closed tart harbouring a silky mix of pineappe flesh, one thing remains — it's impossible to stop at one. Journalist and presenter Victoria Cheng even confesses to demolishing an entire box at one sitting. Well, that was before she realised just how many calories these tiny tarts contained. According to the Health Promotion Board, each tart contains about 80 calories and you'll have to hit the treadmill for 10 minutes just to shed that off. But who's counting calories now? The Lunar New Year only comes around once a year, so go forth and feast in the company of family and friends. Below, where you'll find the pineapple tarts featured in this episode.
