#BuroLive Episode 38: Crafting cocktails with Tippling Club
Shaken, not stirred
We all have a certain scent that triggers a distant fond memory — whether it be that nostalgic scent of Johnson's Baby Lotion from your early childhood days, or that lily-infused perfume that your mother used to wear. It's astonishing where our sense of smell can take us — in fact, an estimated 80 percent of the flavours we taste come from our olfactory senses.
In today's episode of #BuroLive, Joe Schofield, whom you might recognize as the spiffy head bartender at Tippling Club, presents a thoughtfully created sensorium menu in collaboration with the International Flavours and Fragrances (IFF). Centered around 12 unique cocktails, each drink is created around a memory-triggering scent, such as rain, leather and jasmine. Here's how one would order a drink — first, sniff from the 12 scent blotters, then pick your poison. Lucky for us, we got a chance to sniff out our favourite scents and sip on cocktails made by the man himself, right smack in the middle of the afternoon. Tomorrow's a public holiday, right?
ONCE UPON A TIME IN SINGAPORE AT TIPPLING CLUB
Pop in to Tippling Club on 18 May for Once Upon A Time in Singapore, a one-night-only event featuring a group of budding bartenders from our city's top bars — namely 28 HongKong Street, Employees Only Singapore, Gibson, Manhattan and Operation Dagger. Schofield will also be presenting a round of sonic-aged Negronis. Doors open from 7pm.
