Best poke bowls in Singapore
Unless you've been living under a rock, you should already know what a poke (poh-kay) bowl is. This ubiquitous Hawaii staple is a myriad of colours and flavours, and a healthy go-to choice if what you're after isn't quite a salad, but a hearty, filling meal. Each bowl holds a generous bed of cubed raw sashimi fish — salmon, ahi tuna, or swordfish marinated in your choice of sauce, complete with a base of grains or greens. It's super nutritious, too. We're talking heart-healthy omega-3 fats from the fish, antioxidants and fibre from the vegetables and fruits that go along with it.
Where do you find Singapore's best poke bowls? We've done the legwork and scoured through our city's options to bring you the very best in our books – it's time to dig in.
Aloha-Poke doesn't just offer a charming, modish space perfect for convivial conversations; the team behind it also serves up a mean spread of ahi tuna and salmon tossed in flavours like wasabi mayo, spicy sauce, and nutty sesame. The beauty of their bowls is enhanced through a wide selection of side toppings like avocado and tangy pineapple chunks, to enhance the overall flavour profile. If you're lucky enough to catch their seasonal fish, do opt for the mentaiko salmon, which is sublime on its own. Portions here at Aloha-Poke are also generous, so you won't have to worry about feeling hungry later.

This jaunt might be relatively new to the poke scene, having only opened its doors in February this year at Millenia Walk, but its certainly not lacking in substance. Their tagline – "Life's A Beach" — is one we definitely resonate with, and we especially love the fact that Poke Doke is one of the few poke places that open on Sundays. Take your pick from their classic bowls of salmon or tuna made with a blend of shoyu and toasted sesame oil. If you're after something spicy, try the chef's recommendation, infused with Japanese mayo and hot sauce for a kick to remember. We also suggest topping your bowl with an onsen egg for that extra protein value.

A Poke Theory
The sleek and elegant A Poke Theory was founded by a sibling duo who were both previously food journalists. They've turned the concept of poke bowls into a cool, hipster joint plonked in the heart of CBD, dishing up experimental renditions instead of the usual suspects. Take a whack at their wasabi ponzu swordfish for a wonderful citrus hit in your bowl. If you're all about a gluten-free diet, their lemon herb quinoa is the ideal alternative to sushi rice, lightly seasoned and beautifully balanced with the fresh produce. For adventurous tastebuds, pick from their innovative topping options, such as kale chips, lime avocado and teriyaki edamame.
