We love our city’s major supermarket chains but let’s just say there are better, more specialised places to pick up your weekly basket of groceries…

Little Farms

Grounded on a "We Farm, You Eat" philosophy, Little Farms air-ships fresh produce into their stores up to five times each week. You'll find a comprehensive range of the best natural whole foods of fruits, vegetables, meats and seafood as well as healthy grocery items like fresh milk and fresh pasta, which are only exclusive to Little Farms. Their area of specialisation? Australian produce like 100% pure grass-fed beef and Jiva kombucha.

Quan Fa Organic Farm

One word: organic. At this local farm, your leafy greens, gourds and fruits are rendered free from pesticides and chemical fertilisers. They own a wide selection, which are readily available online.

Straits Market

Oh, the goodness of home deliveries. It's the reason why we can cook up a feast without stepping out of the house. Accessible perks aside, the offerings at Straits Market, abides to a higher order — by only sussing out premium quality produce that stands on an ethical and transparent method to farming. By working with other farms in Singapore as well as neighbouring countries, their products include responsibly farmed fish, organic beef and vegetables.

Foodie Market Place

This cosy grocer has a decent selection of cheeses, condiments and spices, but their highlight is undoubtedly at the butcher section. Lamb chops and beef shanks are readily available at a good steal, although we advise going early before the coveted parts get snagged up.

Opening hours: (Tues-Fri) 11am-9pm, (Sat-Sun) 9am-6pm

Huber's Butchery

If you're a meat snob (yes, they exist), pop over to Huber's, which conveniently delivers via their website. We're talking Argentine grass-fed beef, Australian 200 days grain-fed Angus, veal meats, and even dedicated butter for steak. This is where to go if you're feeling fancy.
