Our shortlist of the top eats and treats in town

There's a hip new Italian joint in town, and it is absolutely delightful. If you've been dreaming crisp pizzas and fresh pastas over the past week, Amò — under the famed ilLido Group — is where you need to be. The space is industrial-chic and spacious, and the zealous wait staff are ready with a big smile and a hug (if you please) once you amble through their doors. You'll feel right at home here. Grab a round of drinks and pizzas with your crew before moving onto the mains. Their classic and signature pizzas are light, deliciously doughy and won't leave you feeling heavy after, thanks to the natural leaven and temperature-controlled leavening. Start off with the Friarielli, Pancetta, Pumpkin and Smoked Mozzarella rendition, where sweet pumpkin meets the saltiness of the pancetta. Also try the moreish Bone Marrow, Wild Garlic Pesto and Anchovy Salsa Verde for a delectable mix of textures and flavours. If you're happy to keep going, Amò's spaghettoni for two, topped with Boston lobster and tarragon is one to remember. Their lobster servings are unusually generous, and is surprisingly easy to peel off the shell. In our books, that's understated perfection. – AC

Muse Amuse

It's always a pleasant surprise with Asian contemporary cuisine as it's never what meets the eye. In the case of Muse Amuse – a mod minimalist space housing a restaurant, bar and retail space of artisanal luxury watches and accessories — their table fare features a smorgasbord of small plates for diners to share over inventive cocktails, like their spicy Tom Yum Bloody Mary. Must-haves include their 6-day Baby Back Pork Ribs, twice marinated and adorned with a sticky homemade barbeque glaze, for a deliciously smokey and tender finish. Also try their Royal Ratchaphruek, an Asian ratatouille with thin slices of lotus root, sweet potato and other root vegetables, while steeped in a tangy tom yum broth. What's exciting about Muse Amuse is that it's no holds barred when it comes to creating a dish that's out of the norm — thanks to them, we discovered what gula melaka panna cotta tasted like with a sizable portion of uni. Our verdict? It's not for everyone, so you'll either love it or hate it.  — JS

So it's Friday night, and you're not really in the mood to get shoved around in a rowdy club. All you're craving for is a relaxing nightcap at a quiet bar, and even better if it's touted as a secret bar. Introducing the latest underground hideout to get your tipple fix — Catchfly, a sexy basement bar that is aptly named after the nocturnal flower that only blooms after dark. First look in and we were instantly mesmerised by the bar's chic uptown vibe, accented with plush armchairs and black marble countertops. Known for their extensive cocktail offerings, pick and choose from their myriad of taste profiles, such as "Revitalising and Crisp" as well as "Smooth and Sensual". Love your bourbon? Make sure to order The Honey Badger, a smooth blend of in-house rosemary-infused bourbon, yellow chartreuse, lemon, ginger and honey. If you love taking photos of yourself, try their Selfie Adored, a vodka spiked with fragrant floral notes, attached with a polaroid of your cheeky mug. — JS
