The dinner that gives back: A social initiative by SPRMRKT
Show some love
Having a meal outside with your loved ones is always an enjoyable, heartwarming affair, but here to make it even more special is SPRMRKT's ongoing social support initiative, titled 'Dining With A Conscience'. Featuring a series of fund-raising dinners held at the SPRMRKT Kitchen & Bar, all proceeds from 'Dining With A Conscience' will go to the TODAY Enable Fund, which supports people with disabilities.
The series of dinners will serve up an exquisite six-course meal, crafted by chef-owner Joseph Yeo, who was inspired by his encounters with one of the fund's beneficiaries — Isabelle Lim, a photographer with hearing disabilities. Born with Nager Syndrome, Lim's disabilities in fact, enabled her to be more observant and intuitive as a photographer.
The menu is adapted from Lim's favourite foods, to name a few — Hainanese chicken rice, beef hor fun and xiao long bao, which presents itself in a sophisticated and contemporary rendition. Certainly, everything you see and taste at this one-of-a-kind dinner is unlike the local delights that we're familiar with, but you might just be surprised at what the final product looks like on a plate.
Diners can also look forward to viewing Lim's works (in collaboration with her cousin, Tham Yin May) — a photo essay of her time living together with her elderly grandmother, alongside a silent video that will be screened at the modish space.
At the end of the day, a sit-down meal might be about bringing people together, sparking meaningful conversations, or simply filling your tummies with delicious grub. But this one adds a sweetener — it's up to you to make a difference and go the extra mile to help people in need.
Dining With A Conscience dinners are priced at $188++ per person and will be open to the public on 25 and 28-30 November.
