This National Day, your cup of tea can taste like a Nyonya kueh
Bring on the kueh salat
Our sunny island's unique ethnic makeup has certainly fed us well. We are, after all, living in a melting pot of distinctive cuisines stemming from various racial identities and heritages. Truly, there are many things to be thankful for when you're living in a veritable food hub like Singapore.
This year, homegrown heritage tea brand, 1872 Clipper Tea Co. pays tribute to the age-old Peranakan house. In line with our nation's 53rd birthday, signature flavours from the Nyonya kuehs and iconic desserts (re: kueh salats and iced chendol) we grew up with are percolated into the brand's finest tea leaves.
The patriotic range features three new tea blends of Butterfly Pea (yes, we mean blue tea), Nyonya Kaya and Gula Melaka, each individually housed in a cute gift box shaped like a Peranakan shophouse. You can either give the gift of piquant nostalgia to your elders or simply brew a pot of your own at your upcoming NDP soirée. We'll do both.
