Jewel Changi Airport in pictures: Best attractions at Singapore's newest shopping mall at Terminal 1
Larger than life
Say what you will about Singapore, but our city's airport has always been second to none. State-of-the-art installations, breezy sky trains and the smashing glitzy tech implored in all of the four terminals.
Still, the best has yet to come. Jewel Changi Airport at Terminal 1 blew things out of proportion, and by things we mean expectations. The monster mall debuts a series of famous firsts: Shake Shack Singapore, Burger & Lobster, Pokemon Center, followed by many other industry names who proudly debut their largest store. Not forgetting, A&W's glorious return back to our shores.
But the onslaught of gourmet options isn't the only reason to why locals are losing their marbles in this mega mall. Its revolutionary architecture is. First impressions: we thought we stumbled into that iconic scene of Jurassic Park—a bevy of lush botanicals, streams of light from the dome-shaped roof, a magnificent indoor waterfall (the world's largest) and even a futuristic touch of sky trains zipping by. Well, the sight of wide-eyed locals scurrying to snap the best shot might pull you out of that glossy illusion, but you get the point.
So far, the future looks gleaming for this crown jewel — it is where all that rich social media content lies, snaking queues, hedge mazes to leave your kids giddy in excitement and even a cinema to curb shopping fatigue.
That said, give yourself realistically a month to finish covering every square inch of this place — it will probably take a while.
Doors will officially open to the public on April 17.
