Dinner party essentials: Hermès’s Voyage en Ikat collection

Porcelain perfection

The French luxury house revisits the poetry of an ancient pattern-making technique for its latest tableware collection

'Voyage en Ikat', the latest tableware collection by Hermès, transposes the intricate beauty of ikat, a dyeing and weaving technique used to pattern textiles, onto a canvas of a different kind — porcelain.

Hermes voyage en ikat collection

Designed by Damian O'Sullivan and Benoît-Pierre Emery, the 33-piece collection decorated by Hermès craftsmen in Limoges is beautifully flushed with more than 20 hues of lush jewel tones in emerald, sapphire, and ruby. Touches of 24-carat matte gold illuminate the mélange of colours, tracing the rim of a plate, the curve of a handle or the base of a bowl.

While each piece in the collection is stunning enough to stand on its own, the real poetry of the collection plays out when showcased for a classic French dinner service.
