A lot of things have changed this past year. And for Kenzo, that has also meant losing its late founder, Kenzo Takada, to the pandemic. Takada passed away in Paris due to complications from COVID-19 back in October 2020.
Current creative director Felipe Oliveira Baptista is set to pay homage to Takada this week. In the form of a fashion film that’s titled Kenzo Always, Baptista will be debuting the brand’s autumn/winter 2021 collection on 26 March 2021 as well as celebrate the life of the Paris-based, Japanese fashion designer.
While not much is known about the film, we can confirm that Baptista has commissioned Berlin-based electronic musician Planningtorock to create an exclusive track for the film. And based on the teasers of the track — they’re calling it ‘#planningtoKenzo’ — on Kenzo’s social media, it’s anything but sombre and brooding. In fact, we’re pretty certain that the track and Kenzo Always are both poised to be a joyous remembrance of the beauty that Takada had graced us with.
