Is nature really recovering? Global CO2 levels may have dropped 17% in April, but there has also been a rise in hunting, poaching and logging as people losing their jobs in cities return to rural areas to seek food and survival. Deforestation has increased in countries like Brazil and Columbia and many hunters and poachers are taking advantage, as law-keepers and police patrols have been laid off due to lack of funds. Experts say protecting nature should be top of the agenda while we navigate the post-pandemic future. Balance to the ecosystem must be restored, if we are to prevent future pandemics. Can we find a better, greener future together? Inspired by @nadyahutagalung @worldeconomicforum .

There are no more spotlights and red carpets, my ballgowns and heels sit forgotten in the closet. Yet, we can take a moment to dream, while playing our board games, drinking our Dalgona coffee, and in this pause, shine that spotlight on those who may need our help more than ever.

Proud to be part of this campaign with homegrown jewellery brand @avyanna_official Our worlds may be upside down, but we have family, shelter and safety. Avyanna will be generously donating $120 from each piece of jewellery sold on www.avyanna.sg, to the @sgchildrensoc which will help provide meals, essentials and mental health services to families in need at this time. Please take a moment to dream with us, to support local businesses and power the dreams of others.

We got an amazing box of toys today, and after we took the toys out, the boys played with the box! Kids don t need to be entertained as much as we think they do - often they re happy with simple household materials and their imagination! Having said that, when they re done with the box, I m dying to play with the toys! Already got games and ideas for creative play lined up - using both household material and our awesome new toys! Stay tuned! .

There is beauty in the stillness around us. One thing I ve learned in the past 3 weeks, is how to slow down. No where to rush, no place to go, learning to be still. Stay safe in your nest

Perhaps we should stop asking Where will you go on your next holiday when this is over and What s the first thing you ll do when this ends - and ask instead how we re going to help each other get through this. Because life as we know it is over.

In the words of Minister K Shunmugam, expect Economic devastation, businesses will close, lives will be ruined. Think Positive will soon not be enough. We need to prepare mentally, emotionally and financially for the true crisis to come.

Perhaps business owners have a clearer view of the runway ahead, to see the turbulence on the horizon. It s gut-wrenching watching an Events company I ve built for 20 years struggle to it knees in months
.
Where we are today, is the calm before the storm. While it s important to stay positive , we must also become pragmatic. Can you expect to survive without 6 months or more without any income? Many Singaporeans can t, and it s time to figure out how we re really going to get through this together . Not just by dreaming of our next holiday, or the first thing we ll do after.

It s time for all those who are able, to pull someone else up. Send groceries to a friend who is struggling, call out a neighbour s domestic violence @awaresingapore help a child in need @sgchildrensoc become mental health ambassadors @we.are.limitless We can each do something, however small.
.
In a short while, the half of society that can help, will have to uplift the half that needs help. This is not the time to attack privilege but to accept that we re all suffering in our own ways. Be kind, don t judge, help others, be a good neighbour, take care of your mental health. This is the only way we re all going to survive this together.
.
There is a mysterious cycle in human events. To some generations much is given. Of other generations much is expected. This generation... has a rendezvous with destiny.

Last post on this! We re not saying grades aren t important, or that we should shelter our kids from all stress. Stress is needed to build resilience, and helps kids feel empowered when they overcome challenges. As parents, we shouldn t wall off our kids from life and remove all forms of stress. But there IS a difference between stressed, distressed and depressed. Raising these issues with this year s campaign for @lifebeyondgrades because it s super important for us to be able to recognise distress signals, and be there to walk this journey with our kids. Just wanna say - DO be present for your kids, don t be judgmental or make them feel worthless, celebrate effort if they ve tried their best, and above all, DON T COMPARE! Every child is different, education is not a race #lifebeyondgrades #sgmummies #sgkids

PSLE results are out tomorrow, and this campaign was created for you, those anxious parents and children who have done their best to get to this milestone. This #PledgeForOurYouth is especially for the kid who got slapped in front of her entire class for a score that disappointed her mother, for the boy whose mother caned him the whole year each time he got less than an A, for the child in the class who got screamed at for being stupid and lazy when he didn t get a score that pleased his parents. All true, and sadly familiar stories, to many of us with kids in school in Singapore. This is for those kids, who dread the school they ll be sent to if they don t get that high-enough score, who will have to face patronising relatives during CNY. Let s all stop, and consider that there are things far more important than a score on a piece of paper. This is especially for those kids who are so fearful tonight, that they think there may not be a tomorrow. Please don t let your child think that a bump in the road could be the end of the journey. Please let them know that a grade doesn t define them, that every child is different, and that there are many paths to success and happiness. Above all, let s not be competitive parents, education is not a race. Some kids start out slower, but catch up later in life. Some develop strengths, passions and talents that don t appear until they ve begun their careers. Excelling when you re 12 years old actually has less impact than you can imagine - just ask successful people today, and their answer would almost always surprise you. Take courage. All the best tomorrow, don t forget to tell your young person that you love and support them, no matter what the outcome. If you fail an exam, you lose some marks, if they lose their self confidence, they will fail in life #lifebeyondgrades #pledgeforouryouth #sgkids #sgmoms #sgmummies @lifebeyondgrades

Congrats @itsjoshuanah and @rachelvanessatan - You re all grown up! Look at all these Mercury alumni @mercurysocial past and present gathered to celebrate and I m simply in awe! So many have gone on to make us proud, some have carved out careers overseas, some are working their dream jobs, some have stayed over ten years with us, some have left and returned, many have become business owners. Seeing all these thriving folks and friendships long after their time with us ended, and I m so goddam proud, and humbled. I ve steered and navigated this ship for two decades, through some deep, dark and troubled waters, manned by the most passionate, capable crew I could ask for. I feel all the good vibes tonight. Thanks for bringing so many Mercurians back together for your special day, Josh and Rachel, you ll always have a special place in our hearts! Does my life look perfect? As a working mom, I really don t get to spend as much time with my boys as it appears. I have to choose quality time over quantity time, and that s why we travel. Behind the scenes (and the smiles), we all go through challenges and battles no one else sees. So be kind always - you never know what someone else is going through, just because they look strong on the outside, doesn t mean they aren t struggling on the inside. Anyway, slightly melancholic post, as my anxiety is mounting over Tyler starting P1 next year, his dyslexia, possible dyspraxia, his insecurity and fear of bullying - it s all taken a mental toll on me, while going through a busy work season and trying to put together something bigger than fashion week next year, working on a new campaign for @lifebeyondgrades , organising a charity campaign with @crib_society today, a fundraising trip with @operationhopefoundation working on getting a book for kids published with @dyslexiasg and dealing with personal issues beyond my control. Sometimes we have to tell ourselves it s ok not to be ok, this too shall pass. Happy Thursday, folks (and no, I m really not on holiday anymore. It s just photos and happy memories on Instagram) Meantime, I ll focus on the silver lining - that I m creating a life of positivity and impact, I have a great team running with me and that business is thriving @mercurysocial #staypositive #grateful
