Anywhere I was in the world, twice, every single year, I would return back to London for your fashion shows. Your storytelling at the shows was consistent, inspiring, fulfilling, challenging and unique. I would come to support your journey, to witness your growth and success but more importantly to support a friend. 9 years of friendship.
Our endless kitchen chats, homemade margaritas, sneaky lunch breaks from work, delicious homemade food, our summer holidays to Mykonos and Pantelleria... so many beautiful moments that I have to remember.
On the 8th of June, at the night of yet another of your fashion shows, strangely I was having chills and tears. That show felt like a transcendent gate to something bigger. I immediately came backstage and told you about my chills and tears I experienced.
We shared a taxi back to yours and that same night you hosted a beautiful dinner with friends. That night you managed to swing along the room to every single one of us and chatted and laughed. I got to see you a week after too when I flew in for a night in London, you were insisting to have a catch up one to one and we had a coffee in your kitchen. I was trying so hard to convince you to join me on holidays to Mykonos but you said you need to prepare for the next season. You mentioned the T-shirt scandal and laughed on the idea that you are famous now.
On Monday morning this week I messaged you to persuade you to come out and join me on my holidays as I was just a step away from Mykonos. You didn t open my message and 10 minutes later I knew.
I was wearing your jumper that day, with the Arabic The end printed on the front and It ended before it began on the back in red.
You are my first close friend to depart so young and unexpected, it is unreal for us to believe. Coming down the hill now, to one of your favorite places in Mykonos, I was surrounded by hundreds of white seagulls, flying free and high. Thank you for all the beautiful moments. Rest in Peace my dear friend. I will miss you Khalid. @khalid_qasimi
