Hello! I m @jacksonhallberg, photographer and interior designer. I ve lived in Chinatown, NYC, for 5 years and this is my second apartment. I m really obsessed with kitsch, and I try to embrace it with a utilitarian approach. I love to combine highs and lows, contrast patterns with pattern, and blend as many design movements into the same space as possible.
Pic #1: I love this pedestal I bought in upstate NY from @hasbeensandwillbees. It s enameled with horn, which I had never seen before. Also, their shop is truly the coolest. Ever.
Pic #2: I bought this mural from a company that makes decals for restaurant interiors. It was probably meant for some lavish Italian bistro but it ended it up in my bedroom.
Pic #3: I am obsessed with this wallpaper from @adelphipaperhangings. It s titled Virchaux Drapery and it s an American pattern circa 1815. Traditionally, the pattern is hand-painted and then applied, but I actually just printed it myself.
Pic #4: My apartment gets tons of light, which is probably my favorite thing about it. I bought these matte velvet curtains for my bedroom windows. They don't do much to keep the light out, but I love how they wake me up every morning.
Pic #5: I have a bit of a rug addiction I think my obsession comes from how much I admire the process. So much in design today is manufactured at such a rapid pace that hand-knotted rugs really stand out to me as a trademark of remarkable craftsmanship.
