Your grandmother's silk scarf is this season's most underrated fashion accessory
Maybe it's the effect of watching The Crown. Designers seem to agree that scarves often seen on Queen Elizabeth (and the beloved "ah-ma" from Crazy Rich Asians) are a must-have this season. Tory Burch, J.W.Anderson, and Alessandro Michele of Gucci built entire outfits out of blown-up prints from silk squares, forming swishing handkerchief-hem dresses and dramatic headscarves. The overall look — one half bohemian, one half kitschy.
Also seen at Celine, Salvatore Ferragamo, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Versace and Moschino, this trend is not inked for the faint-hearted. If there was a time to throw caution to the wind, it's now, by embracing loud florals, equestrian vibes and graphic, clashing hues. Should your style icon be Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn, you can dip your toe into this trend with a scarf tied under the chin, then pop in some big sunnies with a billowing white shirt and high-waist mummy jeans.
That's 21st century glamour.
