The stuffy corporate get-up relaxes with softer shapes, prettier shades and statement accents

If it's at Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Dior, it's a trend. The skirt suit, which conjures up images of secretaries from the 80's or ladies who spend their afternoons sipping tea, is seeing a revival this season. Seen at Calvin Klein, Max Mara and Chanel, the 2018 blazer-and-pencil-skirt ensemble is a breath of fresh air with softer silhouettes, pastel shades, gingham prints and statement accessories.

A traditional checked two-piece may seem blah, but with a shorter hem or pencil skirt, plus a white tee with statement earrings and a geometric heel thrown in, you've got a perfect outfit for out-of-office drinks. Jazz up a plain but well-fitted black skirt suit with edgy diamond jewellery — or go for a plunging neckline without a shirt for plenty of sex appeal.

Get more mileage out of a matching two-piece set by breaking it up. Wear the fitted blazer with a billowy midi skirt — a la Alexander McQueen — and pair it with white boots — which is totally on-trend. Pair the skirt with a streamlined turtleneck or pussy bow blouse for another day of the work week, or with a vintage t-shirt for the weekend. Need more inspiration?
