The best street style from Paris Fashion Week SS18
DAY 8: GLITTERATI GIRLS
It's no secret that Monsieur Lagerfeld loves himself a good theme, most recently closing Paris Fashion Week SS18 yesterday with a spectacular runway and collection centred around nature. But as for what the ladies in the frow were decked in, fall 2017's galactic gear rose to the occassion. Those knee-high glitter boots? Out of this world.
DAY 7: MAGPIE EFFECT
Give a lady something shiny and chances are, you'll earn her good graces. Like the Kirakira app that has proven to be every fashion week veteran's Instagram weapon this season (it allows its user to add a 'sparkle filter' while capturing subjects with reflective surfaces), a dose of metallics can be the fashion pack's stylistic X factor. Key word: Judicious.
DAY 6: BACK TO BASICS
In the current spirit of maximalism, heaven forbid that the fashion pack falls back on the all-black ensemble. By returning to basics, we mean commiting to just one poppy hue — borrowing the arresting quality of red, green and yellow when worn in entirety.
DAY 5: PATCHWORK PERFECTION
Is too much of a good thing a bad thing? The fashion pack's unanimous answer to the conundrum is heck no, as seen in the parade of patchwork to hit the streets on day five. Be it a wearable iteration of Comme des Garçons' armour or a decontructed cardigan, here's the consensus: The more the fabric and texture, the better.
DAY 4: ON THE DOT
It wasn't too long ago that Loewe was a name forgotten by the fashion set, but with Jonathan Anderson's magic, the Spanish brand has now risen as one of street style's most valuable currencies. Translation: The designer's curious garments are guaranteed to get its wearer snapped, stat. On day four, see Anderson's crew out in full force fronting Loewe's polka-dotted collection with aplomb.
DAY 3: PAIRING FABRICS
In a circus of the extravagent (we're talking see-through chandelier skirts and second skin scarlet leather trousers), an understated ensemble has its merits — day three's breed taps on the power of going head-to-toe in a single fabric, finish or colour scheme. Behold: Fashion's equivalent of going clean, below.
DAY 2: WHITE WALKER
Ask any fashion week veteran about the must-have footwear to conquer the circuit and they'll confess that heeled boots are the attendee's best friend. Sure, the added height provides an elongated silhouette, but the comfort it renders? Priceless. At Paris Fashion Week, white proves to be the new black with the indispensable accessory.
DAY 1: LINGERIE BRIGADE
It takes a deft hand to spin a typically trashy trope into a whimsical statement, and Maria Grazia Chiuri did just that for Christian Dior's FW17 collection — spotlighting undergarments branded with the maison's name. On the first day of PFW, Dior's sheer frocks were front and centre, but those boxer briefs layered under were lush beyond belief.
