Street Style: New York Fashion Week — Day 9
Viva la monochrome
Though far apart on the colour scale, there's no denying the synergistic play-off against each other when it comes to the classic ivory and obsidian pairing. The colourway of choice for many a designer — think the radical creations of Gareth Pugh and the timeless luxury of Coco Chanel. Even the Kaiser, Karl Lagerfeld himself is always outfitted in monochrome.
Also paraded in several looks on the runway of the Ralph Lauren show, black and white is undoubtedly making a statement in mono. Channel some of that yin-yang in an ink-coloured blazer lined with white piping for a structured take on PJ dressing. But if you're looking to conjure up a monochromatic look with a powerful magnetism, a black sequinned jacket with a billowing hem and a platinum 'do ought to get the job done.
