DAY 4: AND IT'S A WRAP
For the last few seasons, the tie has (almost) been made obsolete in the fashion domain. Forget the contemporary names — even menswear moguls Ermenegildo Zegna and HUGO by Hugo Boss have canned the formality. In its place, the neckerchief. See how the tradeshow gents dial up their rakish outfits on the last day of Pitti Immagine.
DAY 3: WEST TO EAST
The robe has always been in the Eastern man's clothing vocabulary. The Chinese had the Hanfu, the Koreans the Durumagi, and the Japanese the Yukata, to name but a few. Swopping blazers for wraparounds inspired by Asian traditions, knot one on to rise from a sea of buttoned-up gents, and breeze through the summer sizzle while you're at it.
DAY 2: RAISING THE BAR
Returning to the early days of modern suiting, the Pitti gent will take his trousers doubly high on the waistline — just like the menswear dress code of the '20s and '30s. See how the tailoring throwback makes for a lean silhouette.
DAY 1: TURN UP THE SHADE
And by that we mean all shades of the rainbow. However, instead of a fuchsia suit or red windowpane checks — whip those out and risk looking like a Pitti peacock circa 2015 — stash the tailoring for a kitschy, cotton shirt. Light enough to beat the heat, potent enough to leave a lasting impression.
