Zalora, Jason Wu and Malaysian designer Nicole Wong collaborate on vegan leather bags
It was just last October that Jason Wu was on our shores for a runway at Singapore Fashion Week, but the designer has been keeping busy on our side of the hemisphere. Together with Malaysia designer Nicole Wong of bag label Sometime by Asian Designers, the pair have joined forces with e-commerce giant Zalora for an upcoming vegan leather bag range influenced by Wu's contemporary line Jason Wu GREY — the casual and slightly more gamine sibling to the designer's main collections.
Of the bags to come, it has been revealed that German-born artist Josef Albers' geometrical paintings which held sway over Jason Wu GREY's garments, is an inspiration. Zalora x Jason Wu GREY x Sometime by Asian Designers will offer up two styles — a tote and mini crossbody tote — by June, to retail on Zalora's platforms across Asia.
Update on 23 May
The collaboration totes in two sizes are due to hit the e-tailer on 4 June, in a range of six colourways. Crafted by Wong's Sometime by Asian Designers and with Wu at helm of the design aspect, the latter elaborates on its provenance, "The inspiration for the Edie tote comes from my love of mid-century art and architecture."
Zalora x Jason Wu GREY x Sometime by Asian Designers will be available on Zalora for countries Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Taiwan, Indonesia, Phillipines, Hong Kong and Macau. From 4 June.
