Ushering in the Year of the Rooster with punk attitude

While the New Year celebrations are done and dusted for the rest of the world, here in Asia we're gearing up for another round of festivities — the Lunar New Year. Kicking things off is Vans with its Year of the Rooster collection.

Designed in collaboration with Shanghai-based footwear designer, Kim Kiroic, six premium and classic silhouettes have been reimagined to pay homage to this year's Chinese zodiac sign. Inspired by the lifecycle of a cockerel, each design serves as a representation from birth to adulthood fused with the brand's iconic punk rock aesthetics.

The Old Skool in nude leather symbolises the egg and the Authentic Platform in furry yellow flannel and silk shoelaces signifies the chick. Progressing into adulthood, the white leather Slip-On featuring a three-colourway fringe illustrates the rooster's tail feathers, while the Mid Skool with its textured faux leather heel depicts the rooster's comb. But for those who prefer a subtle interpretation, the Authentic Platform braided into the classic checkerboard print is also available in nude or red, blue and black.

Vans boutiques are located at Ion Orchard, Bugis+ and Jurong Point.
