Urban Revivo in Singapore: The key, trending items to shop this season from China's answer to Zara
As western fast fashion players including Forever 21 and Topshop withdraw from China, Chinese label Urban Revivo is aggressively expanding. The brand — founded in 2006 and widely considered 'China's answer to Zara' — opened its first store outside Asia in London last year, and recently scored prime real estate at Jewel Changi Airport (its second outpost in Singapore). So, what's all the fuss about?
Urban Revivo, like its European counterparts, specialises in frequent drops of mass-market, trend-inspired clothing and accessories. According to Urban Revivo's vice president Raymond Ngoh, the brand's edge over competitors largely boils down to its proximity to manufacturers, which allows for stricter quality control. Speaking to journalists in 2017 for Urban Revivo's first Singaporean boutique opening, Ngoh confidently and repeatedly declared: "You won't see running threads on our pieces."
For the spring/summer 2019 season, Urban Revivo has zeroed in on key trends like tie-dye, floaty floral skirts, and '90s-style, spaghetti-strap minidresses. It remains to be seen, however, how it will tackle the most significant trend of the decade — sustainability — as its global reach grows ever wider. Only time will tell...
Urban Revivo's Singaporean boutiques are located at Jewel Changi Airport and Raffles City.
