Street Superior 2018: 5 event exclusives to get excited about at the sneaker and streetwear convention

Kicking it

This weekend, a whopping 70,000 sq. ft of Bukit Panjang 'A' Power Station will make way for Singapore's biggest sneaker and streetwear convention: Street Superior.

Formerly known as Sole Superior, the event has broadened its scope beyond cool kicks, with 2018's edition encompassing 16 brand showcases, 70 independent vendors, food, music, art, and countless other activities.

If you're already breathless with anticipation, fret not. We've prepared a preview of highlights to expect from this year's extravaganza.

1. This is not your regular trip to the corner shop
Limited Edt, with their Aladdin's cave inventory of covetable sneakers, has teamed up with Straatosphere on LE Convenience, a cheeky spin on the humble neighbourhood convenience store. The pop-up will stock selections from the retailer's archives — think rare Nike SBs and Jordan Retros — alongside buzzy new launches from Adidas, such as the Dragon Ball Z Prophere, Deerupt Runner and the Yeezy 700 "Mauve". Long queues for the latter (we were warned) are likely. Steel your calves! Now if only the corner store concept would come with corner store prices, amirite?

2. May I have your autograph?
After its unveiling at Pitti Uomo spring/summer 2019, the Pony x Yong Bae Seok capsule collection is finally arriving on local shores. Yong has given the U.S. brand's classic staples a modern makeover; the laces of Pony's City Wings, for example, have been replaced by a very 2018 elastic band. Styles are available to pre-order for collection at Street Superior, and can be signed by the polymath designer himself. Psych.

3. "Come on grab your friends, we're going to very distant lands..."
Stoner-favoured cartoon Adventure Time may have ended its decade-long run in September, but that hasn't deterred Flabslab from creating its Mis-adventure Time series of art and products. Launching at Street Superior, our favourite items have got to be the Lady Rainicorn/Merlion-hybrid patch and manekineko-Finn enamel pin. And you thought the Farmworld timeline was surreal.

4. *Insert lazy witticism about diamonds here*
According to Google, the traditional 35th anniversary gift material is jade or coral. But apparently, Casio thought, "F*** it" and went all out on diamonds instead. Their anniversary-edition Diamond Index G-SHOCK GA-135DD and BABY-G BA-135DD, sold exclusively at Street Superior, boast (tastefully) blinged-out watch faces. Also available are limited-edition models from Casio's Shichifukujin by Toshikazu Nozaka collection, and a re-issue of the blink-and-you'll-miss-it black and gold GMW-B5000GD range for those who missed out the first time.

5. Don't drink and skate, kids
Vans and Adelaide-based craft brewery Pirate Life Beer (PLB) — whose eponymous merch includes skate decks — will be holding clinics and cash-for-tricks contests at their Street Superior-exclusive skate ramp, after which participants are invited to partake in PLB's award-winning wares. The ramp is BYOB though, so don't show up empty-handed.

Street Superior 2018 will take place at Pasir Panjang 'A' Power Station, 27 - 28 October 2018 from 12pm - 10pm. Book your tickets at
