Tapping on the power of pop

Sales of the Selena Gomez Phenom Lux sneaker to aid the Lupus Research Alliance

Previously the face of Puma's En Pointe sneaker series, Selena Gomez ramps up her partnership with the brand for a co-designed white mid-cut kick known as the Phenom Lux. The collaboration riffs off Puma's existing Phenom sneaker, with the power pop star having her say on the details. It features a gold chain that snakes around the wearer's ankles, a leather upper, and a pair of matching, sheer windowpane socks* to go along.

Unlike your run-of-the-mill celebrity tie-ups, there's a bigger picture to Gomez's involvement with Puma: proceeds from the Phenom Lux sneaker sales are to benefit the Lupus Research Alliance, a cause close to singer's heart — Gomez herself suffers from the autoimmune disease, because of which she had a kidney transplant last year.

Gomez said, "It's been really fun to work so closely with Puma on the design of this shoe. I'm also proud to partner with them in helping to affect lives and bring attention to a cause that is very important to me personally."

A closer look at the Phenom Lux sneaker:

Available at Puma stores located at Bugis+, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, Suntec City and VivoCity. Launches worldwide and in Singapore from 6 April.

*The Phenom Luxe's matching socks will not be available in Singapore.
