Rejina Pyo x & Other Stories collaboration sees the cult Korean designer teaming up with Scandi high street chain
It feels like we've written about a lot of collaborations recently. They've been coming out of our ears. From Uniqlo and Jil Sander, to H&M x Simone Rocha and now, in the context of homeware, DVF. Collaborations make sense. They satisfy a constant yearning for newness, freshness and fun, and allow consumers to own a piece of something that they might not be able to otherwise. The latest? London-based South Korean designer Rejina Pyo and & Other Stories.
A little about the two: After graduating from Central Saint Martins, Pyo cut her teeth at Roksanda, before setting up her eponymous label in 2014. Known for her deeply saturated, rich colours and easy but elegant trench coats, A-line skirts and suits, in addition to puff-sleeved dresses, she gets women. Like really gets them. She reworks classics, making them feel modern and feminine — a lot like & Other Stories, actually. Known for its exclusive and fashion-savvy collaborations with the industry's brightest talents, & Other Stories has previously teamed up with the likes of Rodarte, Fern Fans, House of Hackney, Vika Gazinskaya and Brøgger.
Expect modern and feminine dresses, boxy blazers and signature linen suits with square necklines — all made from sustainable fabrics, including organic cotton, premium silks, and wool sourced through the Responsible Wool Standard.
Pyo doesn't design with models in mind, something that she's obviously worked to honour in the campaign, which features three real women (no inverted commas, either). First, Lotta Klemming, the only female wild oyster picker in Sweden ("I'm moved by her closeness to the natural world," Pyo said on Instagram). Secondly, Poppy Okotcha, an ecological grower and forager from Devon ("I admire Poppy's knowledge about plants and the happiness she radiates from being in nature"). And finally, Brittany Asch, American flower enthusiast and artist, living between NY and LA (you might have heard about her art flower project BRRCH).
WHEN CAN I BUY IT?
