Raf Simons' infamous duct tape trope guest stars in his Fred Perry collaboration
Perhaps more astonishing than Raf Simons sending duct taped clothing down the runway in fall/winter 2017 was the fact that this very subversive detailing of his was granted a SKU all of its own come retail season. The power of Raf moved some rolls (priced at $250, no less) and then some, and also spawned satirical copying from 032C's e-commerce arm that put out their own branded duct tape shortly after. It appears Simons is still infatuated with this very ingenuity.
He's employed black duct tape as the core of spring/summer 2018's Fred Perry collaboration; the detail cameos over logos on tees, hoodies and jeans, as well as collar and seam detailing on polos and jumpers. While the version from his eponymous label reads 'Walk With Me', Simons' tie-up but of course, features Fred Perry's iconic laurels.
