Want to be a rockstar? Obey, in collaboration with Blondie's Debbie Harry, can lend you the tools
I'm gonna get ya
Where would Britney Spears be without her itty-bitty bra tops? Would Michael Jackson's success be equally smashing sans single white glove, fedora and military jacket? Some would argue that it was the sheer green silk and chiffon Versace dress Jennifer Lopez wore to the 42nd Grammy Awards that made her a household name.
Yes, they all are musical icons in possession of copious talent, but a falsetto and a moonwalk only carry you so far. Curating that specific image, with fashion, to elevate your rockstar routine is half the battle. In her day, lead singer of Blondie, Debbie Harry, chose graphic T-shirts, zebra prints and stonewashed denim to soundtrack her critical and commercial hit, "One Way Or Another" — stylistic renderings aptly adapted for a collaborative effort of a different tune exactly 40 years later.
With streetwear label Obey, Harry is releasing new material by way of a casual collection featuring a chain-link fence bomber, an oversized distressed denim jacket (with her portrait, printed in zebra-effect at the rear), and a selection of "concert merch" range of raglan tops, dresses, jackets, caps, pins and T-shirts.
