Moncler works with Ralph Lauren's nephew on its coolest collaboration yet
Moncler x Greg Lauren
Designer Greg Lauren's wares couldn't be further apart from that of his uncle, Ralph Lauren. Clean-cut prep is to Ralph as deconstruction is to Greg, and it's the vintage, distressed codes of the latter that Moncler has tapped for its latest and greatest collaboration.
''It all revolves around the concept of 'destroyed elegance' and 'imperfect perfection','' Lauren explained, ''and around a philosophy of absolute uniqueness and originality. Each of these items came about thanks to a creative fusion suggested by morphology or the possibility for metamorphosis of Moncler's heritage."
First revealed in Paris last March, the 200-piece collection for both genders (titled 'Collide') sees Moncler's iconic padded silhouettes — such as the Maya and Moka jackets — broken down by Lauren, and patchworked with repurposed utility fabrics such as denim and parkas. Hoodies and trucker caps receive equal treatment.
