Supergroups are nothing new in the worlds of music and comic books; with fashion's historically catty, shade-or-be-shaded reputation, however, the idea of several famous designers working together once seemed like a recipe for disaster. But no longer. Now approaching its third edition, Moncler's Genius program has successfully and repeatedly assembled a variety of egos and aesthetics under a single umbrella, with impressive results; from streetwear to demi-couture to performance art, the designer collective has tested and demonstrated the versatility of Moncler's skiwear staples in a way that would be difficult to imagine under a single creative director.
For FW19, Valentino's Pierpaolo Piccioli — this time bringing on board noughties muse and activist Liya Kebede — Simone Rocha, Craig Green, Fragment's Hiroshi Fujiwara and Palm Angels' Francesco Ragazzi have all returned as guest designers, and are also joined by 1017 Alyx 9SM's Matthew Williams as well as royalty-bait Brit talent Richard Quinn. We can't wait (but will have to, for Milan Fashion Week) to see what they've come up with this time.
