Hiroshi Fujiwara of Fragment's Moncler collection is finally out. This is why it matters
Music has been known to wield a powerful hand. It can alter one's mood, it can spark emotions, and it can also inspire creations in other fields. Hiroshi Fujiwara, designer of Fragment and music producer, is no stranger to this chemistry; and it is such a world (of music and design) that imbues his take on the inaugural Moncler Genius 7 release — Moncler Fragment Hiroshi Fujiwara.
The first to be gleaned is Fujiwara's use of detachable patches, bearing both brand names like a pseudo performing act or band, as decorative detailing on sports and field outers. The denim jacket, an indispensable garment to musicians of both past and present, is edited to feature Moncler's down fabric on its collars and cuffs — just like multiple other patchworked garments of the collection. The designer's inspiration then culminates more overtly in a handful of pieces sporting the word 'Backstage' scrawled on the back.
Of this, Fujiwara said: "Moncler Genius is the opportunity to mix different identities into a new one. It allowed me to test solutions and materials I have never used. The result is an unreleased Hiroshi, but it is also an unreleased Moncler."
