New Michael Kors accessories aid in ending world hunger
Technology for a cause
Affable duo Michael Kors and Kate Hudson have more in common than just best friend telepathy. They also share the desire for a world without hunger. For the third time, the actress ties up with Kors in the Watch Hunger Stop initiative, not only lending her face, reach and influence to the cause this year, but also taking time out to witness first-hand the campaign's pay-off thus far.
"I visited schools in Cambodia in June where the funds raised by Watch Hunger Stop enable the United Nations World Food Programme to feed children so they receive the nutrition they need to grow, and to finish their education. It was an amazing experience — I can't wait to share everything that I saw and learned there," Hudson said.
Once again, the brand will donate a 100 meals to the World Food Programme for every purchase of selected Michael Kors products — this time, a new smartwatch release and special edition sunglasses, below. The Sofie touchscreen watch operates using the Michael Kors Access app* and includes My Social, a brand new feature that allows its wearer to sync their Instagram or Facebook profiles and use images they've posted as their watch's "wallpaper" — a function unique only to the Sofie smartwatch in Kors' range of wearable tech.
The brand's iconic sunglasses, the Lon aviators, come with limited edition mirrored, blue lenses in spirit of the initiative.
Michael Kors will donate 25 USD (equivalent to a 100 meals) to the United Nations World Food Programme with a single purchase of either watch or sunglasses, up to 1, 000, 000 meals. Available at Michael Kors boutiques up till 31 March, 2018.
*The Sofie smartwatch functions with both iOS and Android.
