The last of Meghan Markle's already iconic Strathberry bag is up for auction
The adjective most accurate in describing the world's response to Meghan Markle's engagement to a certain prince, is obsessed. At Buro 24/7 Singapore, our beauty editor analysed Markle's recent makeup looks and how they will evolve as she assumes the royal role. Across the table, the culture team poured over the funniest tweets in reaction to the good news. The image of Markle's serious sparkler too made its rounds thanks to the watchful eyes of our jewellery section.
In fashion, we'll admit we've remained mum — not necessarily out of principle, but frankly, due to a lack of intrigue. Fashion donned by members of the royal family has been known to be buzzworthy (hey, Kate Middleton), though not always inspirational (sorry, Kate Middleton).
Perhaps, until now. The Strathberry Midi Tote Meghan Markle was photographed carrying during her first outing post-engagement at a World AIDS Day event was seen — and then subsequently snatched online — the world over. It was sold out 11 minutes after the photos surfaced. The first pre-order batch of about 400 bags generated the same fervour in under 24 hours. Which is to say, the bags are gone, until the next pre-order... in three months.
All except one. One lucky lady, or gent for that matter, will walk away with the bag du jour as an early Christmas present. The caveat: You have to outbid everyone else for it. Granted, the amount you will be forking out will be in multiple folds of the bag's original retail price, but it's all in the name of a good cause; proceeds from the sale will go to the Terrence Higgins Trust, a charitable provider of HIV and sexual health services — the largest of its kind in the UK.
Find out how to bag the last Strathberry below, and may the odds be ever in your favour.
The Strathberry Charity Auction is currently live. Bidding closes on 17 December at 8pm SGT. The bag will be mailed to the winner the following day and will arrive by Christmas Day.
