BFFs Marc Jacobs and Anna Sui come together creatively for the first time ever
Two of a kind
A little over 30 years ago, a certain Marc Jacobs and Anna Sui met in a design class at Parsons School of Design. The friendship of the native New Yorker and the Michigander (Sui's parents were first generation Chinese immigrants) grew with each sketch towards their career highs. Through his tenure as the creative head at Louis Vuitton to both the birth and critical reverence of their eponymous lines, their professional paths advanced in parallel with the same cult-ish fervour, but they never once crossed. 2018 is the year for change.
True to form, Jacobs and Sui co-produced a selection of handbags, clothing, charms and sneakers, each item a nod to the former's youthful rebellion and the latter's penchant for boho-punk. In similar tendem is also famed illustrator Will Broome, the mastermind behind some of Gucci, Missoni and Marc Jacobs' artistry, who was roped in with the duo to create the Miss and Mister Marc cartoons spotted on the limited editions. As far as close companions go, Jacobs' dog Neville makes a cameo too.
