Studio by Love, Bonito II: This Singaporean fashion brand's dressy blazers, tops, skirts are great for work and special occasions
Flair for drama
Love, Bonito has had a pretty stellar year. Not only is business going strong — the local brand sold out the sneakers they designed in collaboration with Superga and routinely does the same with any piece co-founder Rachel Lim sports on her Instagram page — they've been an active player in the community. The various workshops they conducted to empower women through fashion and wellness proved to be popular. A couple months back, they also linked arms with WeWork to raise breast cancer awareness through styling sessions specifically for survivors with special dressing needs.
Going from strength to strengh, next came Studio by Love, Bonito, a quarterly capsule collection which flexes — ever so carefully — the label's artistic muscles. Elevation is key. Compared to their main line, silhouttes produced under Studio are decidedly more experimental, where fabrication finds texture, and colours are now braver, high in saturation.
The first limited edition collection focused on a hero floral print (see video above). The second, named Studio by Love, Bonito: The Promise of Adventure, plays with textures and volumes. Delicate micro plissé, embroidered organza, and ladder trims are featured heavily alongside tiled broderie, sunray pleats, and textured jacquard. Pretty little things will meet their match in tailoring: grosgrain ribbon tops are made to pair with structured jackets, full weighted skirts, and the like.
Studio by Love, Bonito: The Promise of Adventure collection will be available for pre-order on 23 December 2019.
