Flying the flag for local designers, designer collective Keepers opens a second pop-up store at an iconic Singaporean landmark
Frequent fliers and vacationers are getting another reason to support local designers, and it's never been easier. Keepers: Singapore Design Collective has announced its second pop-up location at Changi Airport Terminal 1, where it will feature and retail products from 11 designers across the fields of fashion and lifestyle. Co-organised by the Textile & Fashion Federation and Singapore designer Carolyn Kan of Carrie K, the 21 square-meter pop-up store will run till 7 January 2016, supported by the Singapore Tourism Board, SPRING Singapore and DesignSingapore Council.
"We are delighted by the expansion of the Keepers initiative beyond Orchard Road into Changi Airport as it will inject more local flair into the airport shopping experience," said Ranita Sundramoorthy, Director of Attractions, Dining and Retail, STB. "It is also a tremendous opportunity for our local designers to showcase their talents to the millions of passengers passing through, and make authentic Singapore designs more accessible to a wider audience."
As for customers, the products offered for sale will be both unique and travel-friendly. Think small leather goods from Ling Wu and Gnome & Bow, as well as exceptionally designed jewellery from Carrie K and Marilyn Tan. Other brands carried at the store include Matter, Ayesha, Extreme Exotic and Saught — all perfect for a jetsetter with a keen interest in local designs.
