JW Anderson for Uniqlo: Everything you need to know about the spring/summer 2020 collaboration
Here comes the sun
Life's no picnic, but JW Anderson's spring/summer 2020 collection for Uniqlo isn't having any of it. In his fifth capsule reality for the Japanese lifewear brand, life is a picnic, and a pretty darn fashion one at that. Titled 'British Country Style', the collaboration, to launch on 27 March, features menwear and womenswear in traditional English prints: gingham and patchwork.
The men's pieces focus on functionality within form — the corduroy shirts can be styled as jackets, the stripes and checks come together harmoniously without detracting from the clean silhouettes and minimalist aesthetic. Patterns are louder in the women's section, spotted on drop-waist dresses, scoop neck linen blouses, and tote bags. Yet, gender norms are virtually irrelevant here. One can imagine the lads picking up the women's reversible parkas and oversized tunics. And we encourage ladies giving the opposite sex's seersucker shirts a go, particularly with a belt.
Got kids? This is the first Uniqlo x JW Anderson collection featuring a line dedicated for the little ones. It echoes the adults' themes, only shrunken.
