ICYMI: Prada collabs with Adidas, Met Gala 2020 theme revealed, and Virgil Abloh returns to work

1. Prada partners with Adidas.

While the exact details of the limited edition drop has not been released by the two titans, it has been reported that the partnership will include two footwear styles launching in December 2019 with a follow up in 2020 under Prada’s Luna Rossa range.

2. Met Gala’s 2020 theme revealed.

Dubbed “About Time: Fashion and Duration”, the landmark fashion event will take a pointed look at fashion history “that’s fragmented, discontinuous, and heterogeneous”, according to the curator of the Costume Institute of Met Museum, Andrew Bolton.

3. China bans export of black clothing into Hong Kong.

Face masks aren't the only garment now banned in Hong Kong; the mainland government has added black clothing into the list of prohibited fashions because protesters have been wearing the colour as a symbol of their opposition.

4. Queen Elizabeth II goes fur-free.

The memoir by the monarch’s dressmaker, titled The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, the Dresser and the Wardrobe, has stated that the Queen’s new outfits will henceforth be made with faux fur to keep her warm in frigid temperatures.


5. Erdem appoints its first CEO.

The fashion label founded by Canadian-Turkish designer Erdem Moralioglu has named Philippa Nixon for the role. Nixon was previously the managing director at Chloé.

6. Lady Gaga to star in Gucci movie.

The A Star Is Born actress will play Patrizia Reggiani, who was convicted of killing the grandson of Guccio Gucci, Maurizio Gucci. The film will be directed by Ridley Scott; a release date has yet to be announced.


7. Virgil Abloh returns to work.

After taking a break to nurse his health, the Louis Vuitton menswear designer posted a selfie to announce his comeback.

8. New collabs dropping this week.

The Acne Studios x Mulberry collection of bags and small leather goods combine signature styles from both houses including Acne Studio’s Musubi and Mulberry’s Scotchgrain. Puma works with Ader Error once again on a collection of shoes, apparel, and accessories.
