Shanghai Tang appoints a new Chief Shoe Designer.

The Chinese designer Xu Bingqiang has been named the new head of footwear at Shanghai Tang. Xu, who launched his own Bing Xu label in 2013, will be bringing his signature whimsy and refinement to Shanghai Tang. Xu had previously created a capsule collection for Shanghai Tang in September 2019, which became a quick must-have — a great fit, it seems, for both brand and designer.

 

Carrie K. collaborates with Norman Tan.

Singaporean jewellery brand Carrie K. worked together with Norman Tan, the Editor-in-Chief of Esquire Singapore, to launch a capsule collection of unisex fine jewellery. The partnership came about when Tan first approached Carrie K. for a custom design inspired by the wisdom of King Solomon. Hence, the yellow or white gold Wisdom rings and bracelets, in a collection named 'Ophir' after the mine from which King Solomon sourced his gold.

 

Antoine Arnault and Natalia Vodianova are getting married.

The power couple of supermodel Natalia Vodianova and LVMH scion Antoine Arnault are finally getting married, having been together since 2011. Vodianova, who's mostly retired from modelling to focus on her charitable work with the Naked Heart Foundation that she founded, has two sons with Arnault. Their wedding is allegedly set for sometime this June in Paris.

Project Runway contestant Tyler Neasloney threw major shade at Karlie Kloss, who is an executive producer and judge on the current season. Neasloney was responding to the judges' critiques of his design, and questioned if Kloss would truly feasibly wear it. His response: "Not even to dinner with the Kushners?" Kloss is, of course, married to Joshua Kushner — the brother of Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner. Neasloney was eliminated.

 

Yolanda Zobel exits Courreges.

The designer parted ways with Courreges less than two years into the job to "focus on new creative projects,'' according to the Parisian brand. Zobel's past two collections received lukewarm critical reviews, and her last collection for the brand will be shown at the coming fall/winter 2020 fashion week. Her successor has not yet been named.

Rami Malek fronts Saint Laurent.

The actor Rami Malek is one of Saint Laurent's new faces for its men's collection in spring/summer 2020. The Oscar winner was photographed for the brand on the iconic Hill House chair by the designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh, directed and shot by the photographer David Sims.

 

Dior is launching the fourth edition of its Lady Art project.

Christian Dior will be releasing, on 8 January, the latest iteration Dior Lady Art, an ongoing project that sees the house invite artists to create unique pieces of art using the iconic Lady Dior bag as a canvas. The artists in this edition are: Ts Joana Vasconcelos, Rina Banerjee, Wang Guangle, Marguerite Humeau, Jia Lee, Maria Nepomuceno, Mickalene Thomas, Kohei Nawa, Eduardo Terrazas, Raqib Shaw, and Athi-patra Ruga.

 

MCM to release environmentally-friendly underwear.

If you've been meaning to make sure your designer underwear is eco-friendly, MCM have got just the thing for you. This January, the German brand is launching a new range of underwear and loungewear that's made from biodynamic Egyptian Giza cotton. This would be the first time the material is used in lingerie.

Byredo launches jewellery with Charlotte Chesnais.

Fragrance brand Byredo has partnered with the French jeweller Charlotte Chesnais to create a range of fine jewellery. Ben Gorham, the founder of Byredo, first approached Chesnais a year ago to create a custom chain for him. That's since been expanded into a line of fine jewellery, designed with a linked chain motif in silver or gold with diamonds.
