H&M's latest Conscious Exclusive collection incorporates two new recycled materials
The more the merrier
What comes to mind when you think of recycled materials? Is it hemp — of which most keep at arm's length save for the free-spirited backpacker on an eat, pray, love voyage through Southeast Asia. Or maybe it's cardboard — though that's best fashioned into packaging and not clothing we'd actually wear.
Such notions of upcycling can be considered backwatered today, especially if the frontrunners of fashion's green movement have anything to say about it.
They're constantly innovating, and H&M is no exception — this year's Conscious Exclusive collection brings onboard upcycled materials new to the brand's repertoire. Silver and Econyl give new life to scrap metal and ocean waste respectively, which H&M has woven into summery frocks, classic shirts and on-trend mules and accessories in spirit of Swedish painters Karin and Carl Larsson's 19th century abode.
