1. Gucci dresses robots
The Florentine house is known for dressing musicians the likes of Harry Styles, Björk and Chinese up-and-comer Chris Lee, but we didn't see this one coming: robots. In partnership with British GQ, Gucci dresses the robots of Hiroshi Ishiguro, who heads up the robotics lab at Osaka University.
2. Kylie Jenner's Forbes magazine cover sparks contention
Earlier this week, Forbes revealed their August cover featuring Kylie Jenner alongside the proclaimation that Jenner was "set to be the youngest-ever self-made billionaire". This proved not to sit well with the Internet. Point of contention? "Self-made". After all, Jenner was born into fame and grew up on a popular reality TV show. Here's what Forbes is saying in response.
3. Kaws' Brian Donnelly issues an apology
It's not just Donnelly's installations and collectibles that are adorable; the artist's recent public apology for taking up parking lots while transporting the Kaws Companion due in Seokchon Lake in a matter of days, is beyond endearing.
4. An exciting newcomer at New York Fashion Week Men's
NYFWM has a bit of a snooze rep if we're to be completely honest, but first-timer Jahnkoy put on show worth watching this SS19, with Puma's backing. Designer of the label, Maria Kazakova, had her models walk out in flocks, and showed garments that pulled references from numerous cultures — an attempt at speaking out on the loss of tradition and heritage globally.
5. Nike's React Element 87 sneaker continues to sell out instantly
Took another L on Nike's latest sell-out silhouette, the Reach Element 87? Following the first wiped out drop in June, the recent Friday the 13th saw more collectors down on their luck as the shoe instantly sold out upon its second release. Well, at least you're in good company.
6. Off-White to release swimwear and "beach clothing"
First furniture, then fragrances, and now swimwear. However, Off-White's swimsuits and beachside get-ups are exclusive only to its Mykonos store for now.
7. Meghan Markle's attire makes news, again
Fashion copycat police Diet Prada's IG handle notes how similar her recent black Dior gown is to her Givenchy wedding dress. That whole Emilia Wickstead debacle — the brand claimed Givenchy’s was a copy of well, one of their dresses — just makes the water murkier.
