A sneak peek at Dior's 70th anniversary fashion exhibition
The Source of the Legend
In commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the maison, Dior is hosting a special exhibition at its Musée Christian Dior titled 'Christian Dior and Granville: The Source of the Legend'. Putting the spotlight on the founder's childhood home in Granville, it explores the roles it played in shaping his artistic direction.
On the villa in which he spent his formative years – with its cliff-top views, textured exteriors and lush green flora that encircles it – the founder said, "The sweetest and most wonderful memories. What can I say? My life, my style, owe almost everything to its location and its architecture."
Three levels (divided into inspirations, family and legacy) of priceless artefacts and documents offer an insight into the creative process and evolution of the couturier, from his fascination with Japanese culture to the members of the family who helped define his visionary future and the scents and rainbow of colours that further fuelled his imagination.
