Carine Roitfeld x Uniqlo fall/winter 2016: Doing it the Parisienne way
Je ne sais quoi
Third time's the charm, indeed: Back with her third collection for the Japanese lifewear brand, fashion director and style zeitgeist Carine Roitfeld dubs the fall/winter 2016 line her "favourite range yet" through a trio of campaign videos lensed by director Fabien Constant. Not much surprise there — the line practically features the staples Roitfeld would normally be clad in while sitting on her usual frow seat or getting papped by street style photographers.
Teaming up with Uniqlo design director Naoki Takizawa, Roitfeld injects her classic French spirit into corporate staples. Its emphasis on outerwear and knits feature the style-setter's favourite go-tos — a badass MA-1 jacket, a plush leopard overcoat, as well as mannish tailoring and delicate cuts. Gamine suits and understated accessories add a touch of nonchalance. The 61 styles are sartorially categorised into four themes: Elegance-threaded Black Wardrobe, camo-enveloped Military Mix, female figure-enhancing Fit and Flare, and the sassily spotted Leopard Lover.
Keeping us on our toes, Roitfeld's envisioned career woman is unpredictable — she plays with the idea of the masculine-feminine by her own rules — yet stays impeccably time-transcending. Her office uniform sticks by the code and at the same time, isn't strictly business. Discover the collection and start on your wish list before the collection drops on 11 November.
Uniqlo x Carine Roitfeld fall/winter 2016 collection will be exclusively available at Uniqlo Orchard Central and online on 11 November.
