Who painted the giant Burberry Christmas murals in New York City?
Blondey McCoy is one of those kids who make the adults feel small. Not technically legal yet, McCoy is already a wizard on the skateboard, who just so happens to design a streetwear and jewellery brand named Thames. Oh, he is also a bonafide artist with solo exhibitions and a collaboration with Damien Hirst under his belt. NBD? He's Burberry's latest fixation.
Featured in Burberry’s rainwear campaign prior — not to mention Palace and Adidas ads too, plus an Alasdair McLellan-directed music video for The XX — McCoy has gone on to bigger things: Creating campaigns for the brand. First, a large-scale wall art piece near Burberry's September show venue this year in Clerkenwell, London, and now, three towering murals in New York City depicting a British Christmas.
McCoy's distinct style, one uniting the disparate, is seen in his personal pieces as well his latest artwork for Burberry that draws upon his Yuletude memories and a sense of nostalgia — represented by objects hand-painted on buildings in Manhattan's Soho and Flatiron districts.
