#Atribute: 40 years of Armani and an affinity for couture
Since the birth of its official couture arm in 2005, the statuesque gowns of Giorgio Armani Privé have graced the red carpet worn by the crème de la crème of the cinematic world — Julianne Moore, Naomi Watts, Nicole Kidman and Anne Hathaway to name but a few.
In comparison to the long and rich histories of other haute couture houses, Giorgio Armani's ten years in the game might seem insignificant. But the designer has always experienced a natural gravitation to the craft, always presenting a collection of exclusive dresses from his Giorgio Armani Privé line at the end of each ready-to-wear show in Milan.
"Haute couture plays a specific role in the world of fashion: It is about a dream, the highest expression of the very best craftsmanship, of the heritage of savoir-faire tied to the purest creativity and imagination," says Giorgio Armani, succinctly conveying the true essence of couture. "In effect, it is elite, if one considers it only in terms of the number of people who can buy it; but it has always been this way."
Here, we take a look back at the Privé creations on the red carpet over the years; an affirmation of Armani's inception into the hallowed halls of couture.
