Artsy aspirations: Loewe collaborates with John Allen for accessories collection
In the short span of time that Jonathan Anderson has helmed Loewe, he has rapidly breathed new life into the once-staid brand. This summer, the creative wunderkind brought in the famous carpet weaver and knitter John Allen to collaborate with the Spanish luxury house on a line of fresh, playful accessories.
Three of Allen's designs — Falling Leaves, Cornish Harbour and Pink House in Cambria — feature as prints on a variety of accessories such as totes, duffle bags, scarves and large beach towels. The beach towels in particular are much like mini-artworks, luxuriant in their bold, vivid colour palettes and full-size prints. "John's use of colour and the purity of his work translates perfectly to Loewe, which stands for the very best in craft today," explained creative director, Jonathan Anderson.
This capsule collection is the first in the Spanish luxury house's ongoing series of collaborations with artists and artisans, and it will release an exclusive publication to mark the occasion. Featuring an in-depth interview with the artist and never-before-seen images shot at the artist's residence in South Woodford, London, the books are limited to 1200 worldwide and will be made available at select Loewe stores.
