Honour the work of late street style photographer Bill Cunningham at Apple's Photo Walk
Meeting of minds
There are few whose work are impactful beyond their lifetime. Fewer, who led lives worth documenting. When considering both subsets, Bill Cunningham's name comes to mind.
Many ascribe Tommy Ton for the dawn of street style photography, but before Ton was Cunningham — the once milliner and writer most celebrated for chronicling everyday style on the streets before the turn of the millenium. His tale is not to be told once, but twice in the last decade; most recently in Mark Bozek's soon-to-be-released film, The Times of Bill.
In light of its premiere, Apple is remembering the legend with a Photo Walk, an event that sees Bozek and local creatives — photographer Aik Beng Chia, said to embody Cunnhingham's spirit in his captures of Singapore's streets and associate fashion editor at Esquire Singapore, Eugene Lim — coming together for a dialogue on Cunningham's life and work on top of a screening of the film's trailer.
Lim tells Buro 24/7 Singapore what's to come, below:
Sign up for Photo Walks: The Times of Bill with Aik Beng Chia by Apple. 4:00 - 6:00pm on 16 November.
